What is the most energy effecient setting for a washing machine?
I need to save money on the electric and the only major appliance I have is the washer machine (I have no dryer and line dry all the clothes). I have three kids and do alot of laundry exspecially since one of them is 18 months and makes lots of messes.

Thanks for you answers Daniel. I normally do laundry on Sunday mornings and a few on Wensday to get through the rest of the week. I can try to do more on the weekends.

Cold water for everything that does not have hard stains to remove.
Use the cold water settings, turn the spin speed down (if able), try to use the appliance during non peak times. Early mornings on weekends is good, because most businesses are not operating during those times.
Also, always do a full load whenever you operate the machine.
and use it on the weekends. Weekday rates will produce a higher electricity bill.
