You could watch local TV stations which are broadcasting on the internet for free just by logging on to their site. Another option is to have a TV Tuner installed in your PC so you could connect a TV or cable TV antenna to it & enjoy watching programs the same way you do on your TV plus the additional features.
I have a HP with windows media center running on vista. It came in with a built in TV tuner, all i did was attached a TV antenna and set up with windows media center under Settings>TV and boom done. Of course a few months from now it wouldnt matter since theres gona be a switch to digital.
